Eleven of the best French Pyrénées skiing and winter sports resorts are less than one hour from La Joie de Vivre. The Grand Tourmalet ski resort connects Barèges 1250 m and La Mongie 1800 m to form one of the largest ski resorts on the French side of the Pyrenees. It is located in the Arrondissement of Bagnères-de-Bigorre and in the Arrondissement of Argelès-Gazost in the Hautes-Pyrénées. For skiing and snowboarding, there are 100 km of slopes available. 29 lifts transport the guests. The winter sports area is situated between the elevations of 1,250 and 2,500 m.

The village of La Mongie is at 1,800 m (5,900 ft) altitude. There are also residences at 1850 and the Tourmalet building at 1900. It lies below the Col du Tourmalet 2,115 m (6,939 ft). It is in the canton of Campan in the Midi-Pyrénées region (department 65) of France and around 20 kilometres (12 mi) from the Spanish border. La Mongie is a winter ski resort offering alpine skiing, snowboarding, snowpark, cross-country skiing, snowmobiles and hiking in snowshoes. In the summer cycling (on and off road) and the use of trials motorcycles is popular.
